I have a gentleman in a nursing home here who is quite young, and due to his decline he is unable to live at home with his wife. He has several health conditions, and within the last few months was put into hospice care. Brand new for 2016 is the Giant Hungry Hippos Inflatable Bungee Challenge game. Four hungry hippolike participants can play at one time. The bungees go on and off. When I met him he was pretty withdrawn and feeling down, and admitted he had no appetite. Nothing sounds good to him anymore, which is part of his disease process. He tries to force down grilled cheese sandwiches, because that is the only thing that sounds good to him. During one of my visits I asked him, if you could have anything at all, anything in the whole world, what would it be, and without hesitation he said Redamaks cheeseburger. We then got into a discussion of the Redamaks cheeseburger, as I had never had one. Ive never seen him so animated. Before my next visit, I phoned his wife and asked how he likes his cheeseburgers, and she told me. I called his nursing home and told them his dinner would be brought in. I surprised him that evening with his Redamaks cheeseburger, and I wish you could have seen the look on his face. Having a cheeseburger and knowing that the Redamaks tradition goes on was integral to my visit back to New Buffalo last week almost as important as seeing family.
